Child Safe By Design

When looking at options for blinds for children's bedrooms and play rooms or any room in the house where Children can reach the windows, the first priority should always be Child Safety.

Curious, growing minds are a joy to watch develop while exploring, crawling and climbing. Before you know it they are up on the windowsill looking for the perfect view of the outside world.

Most accidental deaths involving blind cords occur in children between 16 and 36 months and this is the reason why child safety is at the forefront of our manufacturing process. No blind leaves the premises without safety devices installed and within the legal cord length requirements.

The Child Accident Prevention Trust reports that over 30 children are known to have died in the UK as a result of becoming entangled with a blind or curtain cord or chain in the last 15 years. Put simply, where there is a loop that is present, or could be created, a safety device must be installed at the point of manufacture. These safety devices will either break under pressure, tension the cord or chain, or provide the facility to store the cord out of reach. A maximum chain and cord length has also been imposed and we will not manufacture anything that falls outside these conditions.
